Abstract

Teacher professionalism is very important in living up to the professional duties they carry and calling their hearts to carry out their professional duties in accordance with their abilities and expertise to achieve the goal of building an optimal quality of education. This study aims to produce new ways and strategies in improving teacher professionalism by analyzing the influence of variables on empowerment, pedagogic competence, organizational climate, and interpersonal communication. The methods and strategies are carried out by identifying the strength of direct and indirect influence between these variables. The method used in this research is a survey method through a quantitative approach. The research was analyzed using path analysis. In addition, to optimize each indicator, each research variable is carried out by assigning a weight to each indicator with SITOREM analysis ("Scientific Identification Theory to Conduct Operation Research in Education Management"). The population of this study was all teachers of ASN teachers at State Elementary Schools in Jambi city, amounting to 868 people. The sample in this study was determined using a sampling technique, namely Stratified random sampling. Determination of sample size was carried out using proportional random sampling technique using the Cochran (1991) formula so that 217 samples were obtained. The results showed that: 1) There was a direct positive and significant effect of empowerment on teacher professionalism (tvalue = 11,532 > ttable = 1,987); 2) There is a direct positive and significant effect of pedagogic competence on teacher professionalism (tvalue = 12,024 > ttable = 1,987); 3) There is a direct positive and significant effect of organizational climate on teacher professionalism (tvalue =25.23 > ttable = 1.987); 4) There is a direct positive and significant effect of interpersonal communication on teacher professionalism (tvalue = 42.03 > ttable = 1.987); 5) There is a direct positive and significant effect of empowerment on interpersonal communication (tvalue = 25.23 > ttable = 1.987); 6) There is a direct positive and significant effect of pedagogic competence on interpersonal communication (tvalue = 12,024 > ttable = 1,987); 7) There is a positive and significant direct effect of empowerment on organizational climate (tvalue = 11,532 > ttable = 1,987); 8) There is a direct positive and significant effect of pedagogic competence on organizational climate (tvalue = 42.03 > ttable = 1.987); 9) There is a direct positive and significant effect of empowerment on pedagogic competence (tvalue = 12,024 > ttable = 1,987); 10) There is a direct positive and significant influence of organizational climate on interpersonal communication (tvalue = 12,024> ttable = 1,987); 11) There is an insignificant positive indirect effect ofempowerment on teacher professionalism through organizational climate (tvalue = 1.018 < ttable = 1.987); 12) There is an insignificant positive indirect effect of empowerment on teacher professionalism through interpersonal communication (tvalue = 1.928 < ttable = 1.987); 13) There is an insignificant positive indirect effect of pedagogic competence on teacher professionalism through organizational climate (tvalue = 0,571 < ttable = 1,987); 14) There is an insignificant positive indirect effect of pedagogic competence on teacher professionalism through interpersonal communication (tvalue = 0.648 < ttable = 1.987); 15) There is an insignificant positive indirect effect of empowerment on teacher professionalism through pedagogic competence (tvalue = 0.334 < ttable = 1.987); and 16) There is a positive and
