Abstract

There are many roles of lecturers that cannot be replaced by technology. Lecturers have the noble mission and task of delivering students to the top of their ideals. It is proper for lecturers to have a high commitment to their profession and develop various abilities related to their duties and responsibilities. The commitment of lecturers to the profession should be the principle possessed by each lecturer in carrying out their responsibilities. Lecturers who are committed to their profession will carry out their duties with full responsibility in teaching assignments, mastering teaching materials and can develop teaching materials, discipline, creative and innovative. The purpose of this study is to find an effort to increase Professional Commitment through identification of the influence of Organizational Climate, Self-Efficacy and Job involvement to the Professional Commitment. This research was conducted on lecturers at private universities in the city of Bogor. The research sample w.as 252 lecturers from 4 private universities. This study uses path analysis techniques in the quantitative stage and Interpretive Structural Method in the qualitative stage. The main conclusion of this study is that there is a direct influence of Organizational Climate variable on the Job Involvement variable that is equal to p = 0.095, f.:.:.unt>tw.le(1.986> 1.969), the direct positive effect of the Self-Efficacy variable on the Job Involvement variable, which is p = 0.671, !count>ftablc(14,033> 1,969), the direct positive effect of the Job Involvement variable on the Professional Commitment variable is p = 0.201, tcow.>ltablo(2.794> 1.969), the positive direct effect of the Organizational Climate variable on the Professional Commitment variable is p = 0.149, t.:oont>tablo (2.748> 1,969) The direct effect of the Self-Efficacy variable on the Professional Commitment variable is equal to p = 0.349, f.:cunt> ttablo(4.856> 1.969)~The indirect effect of Organizational Climate variables on the Professional Commitment variable through Job Involvement variable that is equal to p = O. 114, The indirect effect of Self-efficacy variables on the Professional Commitment variable through Job Involvement variable that is equal to p = 0.805, Collecting data at a qualitative stage through Interpretive Structural Method (ISM) shows the results that support the conclusion at the quantitative stage, that the improvement of Professional Commitment can be done through strengthening the Organizational Climate, SelfEfficacy, and Job Involvement.
