Abstract

Wiliandani Pratama Putri. 021115415. The effect of working capital to profitability in the plastic sub-sector company and packaging found on the Indonesian stock exchange (BEI) 2013-2017 period. Under the guidance of Nina Agustina and Zul Azhar. 2019 In Indonesia growing business activities generally have a positive impact on the growth of the Indonesia economy. One of the drivers of economic growth in Indonsia is manufacturing industry sector, and one of the Manufacturing industry that experienced positive growth is the plastic and packanging industry. The need for packaging plastic raw materials in 2017 is targeted at 5 million tons, increase around 11 % from last year requirement of 4,5 millin tons. In adition, the plastic and packaging industry also plays an important role in the supply chain for the other strategic sectors such as the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, electronics industries. Economic development and competitor actions affect the company’s ability to achieve success. Every company, both manufacturing companies and other companies have a goal to earn profits sales and increase profitability for every period. One of the ways to achieve the goal is by working capital efficiency , that is achieving a balance between available and needed of the working capital. The important of working capital in the company, financial managers must be able to plan well the amount of working capital that is right and in accordance with company needs because if there is an excess or lack of funds this will affect the level of profitability of the company. In this research working capital is measured by Cash Turnover (CTO), Receivable Turnover (RTO), Inventory Turnover (ITO) and Current Ratio (CR). While company profitability is measured with Return on Asets (ROA). This research aims to determine the effect of working capital on profitability in the plastic and packaging sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange dor the period 2013-2017, both partially and simultaneously. The type of research that used in this research is verification with explanatory survey method. This research used secondary data that is quantitative. Determination of samples by purposive sampling method, so that 8 companies were sampled in this research. The analytical method used panel data regression analysis using the eviews 9 application. The result showed that the cash turnover variable partially, Receivable turnover Curent ratio had a positive and significant effect on profitability (ROA). While the inventory turnover variable has a negative effect on profitability (ROA). Simultaneously (together) cash turnover, receivable turnover, inventory turnover and current ratio have a significant effect on profitability (ROA). Adjusted R Square value in this study is 0.913557, this means that the variables CTO, RTO, ITO and CR contribute influence of 91.35% and the remaining is 8.65 % is influenced by other variables outside the research model.
