Abstract

ABSTRACT Domestic waste water is waste water that comes from daily activities of human life related to water usage and is a combination of kitchen, toilet, bathroom, laundry, etc. which usually contains organic pollutant. One technique in treating domestic wastewater is to use aeration techniques. This research aims to determine the optimum aeration time and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of aeration for decreasing levels of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxgen Demand (COD) and Ammonia (N-NH3) Quality standards from domestic wastewater are regulated in PERMENLH No. 68 of 2016. Domestic wastewater inlet is sampled and then aeration process is carried out with 6 time variations, there are 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, 150 minutes, and 180 minutes, each time variation is taken, then the BOD content is determined by the winkler method, COD with the method closed reflux, and N-NH3 by the phenate method. The data obtained is then processed with statistics using the one-way ANOVA method, and determined the effectiveness and efficiency of aeration The results obtained effective time in the aeration process for 120 minutes. For the analysis of domestic wastewater in the aeration process for 120 minutes produces a BOD content of 17,01 mg / L and an efficiency of 71,73% with a maximum BOD content of 30 mg / L. COD levels were 62,19 mg / L and efficiency was 77,22% with a maximum COD level of 100 mg / L. The N-NH3 level was 7,78 mg / L and the efficiency was 73,22% with a maximum level of N�NH3 10 mg / L Key words : Aeration, Domestic waste water, BOD, COD, N-NH3, Amoniac
