The data are taken from the students’ ability to use linking words test and the student’ writing achievement score. The result of r-observed is 0.412, which is higher than r-table (0.176). The alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted since there is a correlation between students’ability to use linking words and their writing achievement. The result shows that thestudents who get a good score on using linking words testare also get good score in writing achievement.
