Abstract

ABSTRACT Lemon plants are shrubs or trees, lemon orange has a high content of vitamin C compared to lime and is a source of vitamins A, B1, B2, phosphorus, calcium, pectin, essential oils, 70% limonene, felandren, bioflavonoid kumarins, geranyl acetate , citric acid, linalyl acetate, and fiber. The purpose of the research test for lemon juice (Citrus limon) activity as an antibacterial with various concentrations is expected to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria causing cavities. Antibacterial testing was carried out with two methods, namely the minimum inhibitory concentration test (MIC) using dilution method and test of the inhibition area diameter (DDH) uses the diffusion method. Concentration of Minimum Inhibiting lemon juice (MIC) with a concentration of 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8% and test of the inhibition area diameter (DDH) with a concentration of 4%, 6%, and 8%, the concentration used to measure clear zone diameter was obtained after the MIC test. The results obtained based on the picture above show that thick lemon juice at a concentration of 2% still has the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria, and in the DDH test the concentration of 8% is the most effective in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria with an average value of 8.6 mm .
