Abstract
The objective of this study is to determine the influence of personality and compensation on organizational commitment with job satisfaction as the intervening variable. This research is conducted among permanent lecturers of private universities in Bogor City. This research use descriptive and verificative methods with a sample size of 233 permanent lecturers from 4 private universities in Bogor City. The sample selection was determined using probability sampling method. This study utilizes Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) - LISREL data analysis technique. The results of this study indicate a direct positive influence of personality on job satisfaction, a direct positive influence of compensation on job satisfaction, a direct positive influence of personality on organizational commitment, a direct positive influence of compensation on organizational commitment, and a direct positive influence of job satisfaction on organizational commitment. There is no indirect influence of personality on organizational commitment through job satisfaction, but there is an indirect positive influence of compensation on organizational commitment through job satisfaction. Job satisfaction is the best intervening variable for personality variables and compensation for commitment to the organization
