Abstract

ABSTRACT Speaking is communication between two or more people in order to exchange information by using a particular language. Communication is the exchange of information between sender and receiver. Speaking also plays an important role in the field of work, such as a receptionist who works in a hotel. Thus, this research focused on Receptionist Strategies in Developing Their English Ability. The research was conducted by using a qualitative method using interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The respondents were four receptionists from Whiz Hotel Malioboro. Based on the results, the strategies used by the receptionist are following the English class, deepening vocabulary by watching movies with English subtitles, using google translate, gestures and practice speaking with fellow receptionists.
