Taro leaf extract is made into emulgel preparations because the emulgel form is a good drug delivery system for hydrophobic active substances. Emulgel is a combination of two preparations emulsion and gel. Topical application is expected to be able to achieve effective concentrations in target tissues. This study made an emulgel preparation of taro leaf extract with a gelling agent (gelling agent) carbopol 940. A total of four formulas were made with variations in the concentration of carbopol 940, namely 0.5% (F1); 1% (F2); 1.5% (F3) and 2% (F4). Extraction of taro leaves using maceration method with 70% ethanol as solvent. Emulgel is made in 3 stages, namely the stage of making emulsions, gelling and incorporating the emulsion into the gel. The results of the emulgel preparation after testing the stability of Freeze thaw and storage at room temperature 25-300C showed good quality based on organoleptic, pH, centrifugation and viscosity tests. While the levels of flavonoid emulgel after 8 weeks in formula 1 were different from other formulas (p-value 0.001 < 0.05). The conclusion is that the manufacture of taro leaf extract emulgel can use carbopol 940 polymer (1-2%).
