Unfortunately, some students face difficulties particularly to develop their ideas. To solve this problem, the teacher needs a technique to make students easy to write. One of techniques that can be used is the concept sentence technique. The aim of this research is to find out the effect of using concept sentence technique on students’ ability to write a cause and effect paragraphs. The method is used in this research is the Pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test design. The research is conducted to the eleventh-grade students of SMA PGRI 4 Bogor. Random sampling is used to take the sample, and there was one class with the total of the sample 32 students. The data was collected through pre-test and post-test by using a writing test. T-test formula is used to analyze the data. Based on the calculation, it is found that the t-test value is 12.44 and the degree of freedom is 31. The value of t-table with the level of significance 0.05 is 2.04. It can be concluded that the t-test value is higher than the t-table value (12.44 > 2.04). It shows that the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the Null Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Therefore, the use of concept sentence technique affects students’ ability to write a cause and effect paragraphs.
