abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukan fitur-fitur tuturan perempuan dan fungsinya yang digunakan oleh Michelle Obama dalam sebuah Talkshow. Selain itu, dilakukan penelitian ini juga untuk menunjukkan fitur-fitur tuturan laki-laki, sehingga akhirnya dapat terlihat fitur mana yang paling dominan dalam penggunaannya. Penulis memperoleh 18 data fitur-fitur tuturan perempuan yang terdiri atas 7 jenis fitur tutur yang terdiri dari 2 data empty adjective, 1 data tag question, 2 data raising intonations on declaratives, 1 data avoidance of strong swear words, 6 data emphatic stress, 2 data lexical hedges dan 3 data intensifiers. Fitur-fitur tuturan perempuan di atas berfungsi sebagai hedges device dan booster device. Penulis juga menemukan bahwa Michelle menggunakan dua jenis fitur tuturan laki-laki dalam 4 data yaitu 3 buah data minimal responses dan 1 data command and directive.
