It requires the students to share information which is appropriate with the text or topic directly by oral language. To make effective in the learning process, the teacher should teach their students by using media that appropriate for teaching speaking. The research is aimed to investigate the use of cue cards as a media on speaking class and to find out the effect of this media on students’ speaking ability. In conducting this research, a quantitative approach is used with Pre-Experimental method and One Group Pre-test Post-test design is chosen as the research methodology. It was conducted to the students in the second grade of SMA Yadika 2 Jakarta Barat. The population with 156 students as much as 15 students were chosen by using purposive sampling technique. Speaking test was given to measure their speaking ability. The data were taken from students’ translating scores and analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of L-value is 0.0426 which is lower than L-table 0.220 (L Value < L Table= 0.0426 < 0.220). Therefore, the data are normally distributed. The result of t-test is 4.21 with the degree of freedom (d.f) is 14, based on the t�table, the degree of freedom 14 at a significant level of 0.05 is 2.14. The result of the test can be concluded 2.14 < 4.21. It means that the value of t�table is lower than t-test. So, it can be described that an alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In other words, The Use of Cue Cards affects students’ speaking ability.
