However, most of the students face the difficulties on writing skill. Thus, a technique is needed to facilitate students to increase their ability on writing skill. Somatic Auditory Visual Intellectual (SAVI) technique was chosen as a technique that can be applied in teaching writing skill, especially to write narrative text. This research was conducted to investigate the effect of applying SAVI technique on students’ writing ability. The population of this research was the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Cicurug. The total number of sample was 31 students of X IPA 6 class. The sample was taken by random sampling technique. In conducting this research, the writer applied pre-experimental method and chooses one group pre-test post-test design. The instrument of this research was a writing test which was given to measure students’ ability on writing skill. The data were gained from pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using t-test formula. The result of analysis showed that t-test value is 3,50. Meanwhile, ttable value is 2.04 at significant level 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) is 30. In this case, the t-test value is higher than t-table value (3,50 > 2.04). It means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, the result shows this technique can be an effective way to increase students’ writing ability.
