Moreover, the influence of self-mentioning also depends on the position of the producer or speaker of self-mentioning itself. Metadiscouse exists as a guide to express the idea that speaking is more than just the communication of ideas and presentation of ideational meaning that including speaker and listeners to interact with each other to affect the ways ideas are presented and understood. This research employs descriptive qualitative method. It also involves three lecturers of English Language Education Study Program as the participants for this research. This research is guided by using two research questions: “What are kinds of self-mentioning produced over the lectures?” and “Why do the lecturers apply self-mentioning over the lectures?” Moreover, the instruments used in this research are observation and interview. The findings of this research describe the kinds of self-mentioning produced during the lectures, such as subjective, objective, possessive adjective and possessive pronounce case. The result shows that most participants used subjective casea lot which means to explain idea (locutionary act).
