TY - THES N2 - Abstract: Stunting is one of the problems of child malnutrition. Each region has different causes of stunting. Cluster analysis can be used for grouping regions based on their similarity of characteristics. The cluster analysis process divided into hierarchical and non-hierarchical. The methods in hierarchical cluster analysis include the Ward and average linkage method. This study aims to analyze the best method between the Ward and average linkage method for the grouping of 34 provinces in Indonesia based on the similarity the causes of stunting. The data used in study is the factors causing stunting taken in each province from the BPS Susenas data in 2020. The optimal number of clusters from this study are 3 clusters, with the variance ratio value in the Ward method is 0.85184; while the average linkage method is 0.72716, so the average linkage is the best method than Ward because it had smaller value in it. The results showed that the cluster members with low stunting factors consisted of 7 provinces, the cluster with moderate stunting factors consisted of 26 provinces, and 1 province was in the high stunting factor cluster is Papua Province. Papua Province can be prioritized in stunting prevention in Indonesia.
