DENGAN BERBAGAI METODE DAN UJI \r\nSITOTOKSIKNYA\r\nNovel Suci Nurania)\r\n, Leny Heliawati a), Siti Warnasih a*)\r\na) Department of Chemistry, Pakuan University, Bogor\r\n*) Corresponding Author: sitiwarnasih@unpak.ac.id\r\nABSTRACT\r\nKetapang leaves (Terminalia catappa L.) are wild plants that contain secondary metabolite \r\ncompounds, namely flavonoids, triterpenoids, and tannins that have potential as antioxidants. \r\nFlavonoid metabolite compounds in ketapang leaves are thought to have anticancer activity and \r\nreduce cell viability. This study aims to determine the antioxidant and cytotoxic activity of methanol \r\nextracts of ketapang leaves (Terminalia catappa L.) and identify secondary metabolite compounds \r\nusing GC-MS, which later can have potential as anticancer. The study began with maceration \r\nextraction using 96% methanol then fractionated with n-Hexan and Ethyl Acetate. Antioxidant \r\nactivity was tested using DPPH, CUPRAC and FRAP methods. Furthermore, the best antioxidant \r\nactivity value from the three methods was then tested for cytotoxicity using the BSLT (Brine Shrimp \r\nLethality Test) method and identified active compounds using GC-MS. The results showed that \r\nmethanol extract, N-Hexan fraction and Ethyl acetate fraction of ketapang leaves gave the highest \r\nantioxidant activity using DPPH, CUPRAC and FRAP methods with the best results with levels of \r\n18.2855; 302.7199; and 180.4672 µg vitamin C/mg extract in methanol extract. The results of \r\nprobit analysis in the cytotoxic test showed that the methanol extract had an LC50 value of 410.96 \r\nppm so that the methanol extract was toxic.
