Chemical activation was carried out by immersion in 0.1M NaOH, 0.1M H2SO4, and 0.1M NaCl, while physical activation was at a temperature of 500?C and without activation as a control variable. Results analysis showing Activation best is with temperature 500?C with results water content amounting to 3.58%, the results of the ash content were 3.82%, volatile matter 9.55% , carbon content 83.05%, benzene absorption capacity 17.5177%, iodine absorption capacity 753.23mg/g, and metyhlene absorption capacity. blue 120.117 mg/g. Results analysis FTIR showing that charcoal active with activation 500?C contain structure OH, CH, C=O, And CH, as well as results test SEM showing The presence of varying pore surfaces in activated charcoal.
