Through speaking, students can express their feeling, ideas and thought using a language. Furthermore, speaking can influence student’s creativity, opinion and knowledge because speaking will be balanced with listening. Although speaking is an important skill, most of students’ still have difficulties in speaking English because of several factors. Photovoice method is one of the alternative ways on teaching speaking. The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of using Photovoice on young learners' speaking skill. The population of the research is the fourth-grade students of SD PERTIWI Kota Bogor. The total number of sample was 32 students of IV B class. The sample was taken by random sampling technique. In conducting this research, the researcher applied pre-experimental method and chose one group pre-test post-test design. She gave pre-test, three-time treatments, and post-test to the students. Taking pictures and describing the things they have taken through voice note was given to measure students’ speaking skill. The data were analyzed using t-test formula which showed that t-test value is 9.73 and t-table value is 2.04 at significant level 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 30. In this case, the t-test value is higher than t-table value (9.73 > 2.04). It means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, Photovoice can be an effective way to influence young learners’ speaking skill.
