She could not have been\r\nat this point without all of them.\r\nv\r\nABSTRACT\r\nSince English in Indonesia is a foreign language, classroom has to be the most\r\ncomfortable place for students to speak English with others. In order to make\r\nstudents interested in learning English, especially in mastering speaking skill,\r\nteachers should try to use a variety of teaching techniques in order to adapt the\r\nstudents’ level of proficiency. Unfortunately, not all teachers apply teaching\r\ntechniques in teaching learning process. However, this research aimed to find out\r\nwhether there is an effect on students’ speaking skill by using teaching technique\r\nin the learning process. The researcher chose INFORMATION GAP ACTIVITY\r\nin conducting this research. The concept of Information Gap is one of the aspects\r\nof communication in classroom. Its concept is based on completing a task by\r\ncompleting missing or incomplete information. Its sets up practices for specific\r\nlanguage projects. The research was conducted to the students of the eleventh grade,\r\nscience two department of the Integrated Mutiara Senior High School. The research\r\nuses Pre-experimental method with one group pre-test pos-test design. After\r\nconducting this research, it was found that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected\r\nmeanwhile the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The result proved that the\r\nstudents’ speaking score taught by using Information gap is better than using non-\r\nInformation gap activities.\r\nKeywords: Speaking skill, information gap activity, teaching technique."^^ .
