Responding to the 21st century’s skill and development require educators to create an environment that provides 21st century students with a learning experience that drives them to explore, analyze, and foster creativity and curiosity. Also, the learning experience that supports students’ home-based learning activities which is suitable to apply in the pandemic era. One of the appropriate learning models used in the current situation is using a Self-Directed Learning model that integrated into the online learning activity. This research aims to portray how SDL integration applied to online class activity in an ELT course program and to what extent SDL integration into online class activity empowered students to execute 21st-century skills. A descriptive case study is applied in this research. This research was conducted in the 6th-semester English Language Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Science, Pakuan University. The participants of this research are students from 6A class. The researcher decided to use observation checklist as the primary data. Also, data from the documentation checklist and interview results as a support data. The researcher investigated the online learning activity used by the course instructor that applied SDL stages. These are content focus activity, asynchronous and synchronous discussion. The researcher also found that the SDL integration into online activity empowers students to be aware of the online learning conducted nowadays and involves current issues in deciding their project topic. Also, they solve their problems regarding their task, encouraging students to present their ideas correctly and creatively. Thus, results proved that SDL integration empowered students to execute 21st-century skills.
