toward the role of pronunciation in English communication</mods:title></mods:titleInfo><mods:name type="personal"><mods:namePart type="given">Andini</mods:namePart><mods:namePart type="family">Serly</mods:namePart><mods:role><mods:roleTerm type="text">author</mods:roleTerm></mods:role></mods:name><mods:abstract>Pronunciation is an essential part in a language, for the nature of language is&#13;
spoken. Pronunciation is an important aspect of language skills, especially in&#13;
oral communication, because it influences the clarity of the message conveyed.&#13;
The purpose of this research is to analyze Tertiary English-majored students’&#13;
perspectives toward the role of pronunciation in English communication. The&#13;
participants of this research are students in second semester of English&#13;
education study program at Pakuan university. This study used qualitative&#13;
method with a descriptive design, that are two instruments used in the study,&#13;
they are questionnaire and interview were given to students in the second&#13;
semester of English education study program. The result of this study, in the&#13;
cognitive aspect, it shows that (95.4%) students agreed that pronunciation&#13;
facilitates understanding during communication and helps avoid repetition,&#13;
although some challenges remain in integrating pronunciation with grammar.&#13;
in the affective aspect (98.5%), students felt that good pronunciation makes&#13;
learning easier, enhances listening and speaking engagement, and contributes&#13;
to active classroom participation. In addition, in the psychomotor aspect (95%),&#13;
Students expressed that pronunciation strengthens communication skills, builds&#13;
confidence in interacting with foreigners. Overall, this study confirms that&#13;
pronunciation plays a crucial role in shaping tertiary students’ communicative&#13;
competence, indicating the need for greater emphasis on pronunciation in&#13;
English communication.&#13;
