	bibo:abstract "Video caption is the display of the spoken word in text, it can help student to\r\nunderstand and learn the English with subtitle caption, and it can expand their\r\nvocabulary. In this research, the researcher focuses on exploring the students’\r\nchallenges and opportunities towards the use of video caption in vocabulary\r\nlearning. This research attempted to answer the following research question: “what\r\nare the challenges and the opportunities towards the use of video caption in\r\nvocabulary learning?”. The research was conducted in SMAN 8 Bogor and the\r\nparticipants are 34 first grade students. The researcher used qualitative research\r\nwith a narrative inquiry method. The data were collected through questionnaire,\r\nreflective journal and interview. The result of this study shows that there are three\r\nchallenges and three opportunities faced by students in using captioned video in\r\nvocabulary learning. The challenges are seeing some of the vocabulary they have\r\nrecently encountered; most of them feel that their attention is being divided because\r\nthey have to look between the video and the subtitles; and they frequently open the\r\ndictionary when they come across vocabulary that they find difficult to understand.\r\nThe opportunities are using captioned videos to learn vocabulary can enrich their\r\nvocabulary, and they feel motivated when they come across new vocabulary while\r\nwatching the videos.
