<dc:title>THE IMPACT OF TIKTOK VIDEOS AND BBC LEARNING ENGLISH
VIDEOS AS A MEDIA ON STUDENTS' VOCABULARY MASTERY</dc:title>

<dc:description>Vocabulary mastery is a key aspect of learning English, but many students still have
limited word knowledge and low retention when using conventional methods. This
study investigates the impact of TikTok videos and BBC Learning English videos
on students’ vocabulary mastery. Using a quasi-experimental design with a
quantitative approach, the research involved two groups: an experimental group
using TikTok videos and a control group using BBC Learning English videos. A
total of 62 tenth-grade students at a vocational high school were randomly selected
as the sample. Pre-test and post-test were given to assess their vocabulary
knowledge, using 23 multiple-choice and 7 matching tasks related to procedural
text vocabulary. The results, analyzed using SPSS, showed that the independent
samples t-test confirmed a significant difference between the two groups (t = 2.346,
df = 60, p < 0.05). These findings indicate that while both media are effective,
TikTok’s engaging and authentic content helps students learn and remember
vocabulary more easily. Therefore, combining informal digital media like TikTok
with structured resources is recommended to make vocabulary learning more
effective and enjoyable in EFL classrooms.
