      "abstract": "Responding to the 21st century’s skill and development require educators to create\r\nan environment that provides 21st century students with a learning experience that\r\ndrives them to explore, analyze, and foster creativity and curiosity. Also, the\r\nlearning experience that supports students’ home-based learning activities which is\r\nsuitable to apply in the pandemic era. One of the appropriate learning models used\r\nin the current situation is using a Self-Directed Learning model that integrated into\r\nthe online learning activity. This research aims to portray how SDL integration\r\napplied to online class activity in an ELT course program and to what extent SDL\r\nintegration into online class activity empowered students to execute 21st-century\r\nskills. A descriptive case study is applied in this research. This research was\r\nconducted in the 6th-semester English Language Education Study Program of the\r\nFaculty of Teacher Training and Education Science, Pakuan University. The\r\nparticipants of this research are students from 6A class. The researcher decided to\r\nuse observation checklist as the primary data. Also, data from the documentation\r\nchecklist and interview results as a support data. The researcher investigated the\r\nonline learning activity used by the course instructor that applied SDL stages. These\r\nare content focus activity, asynchronous and synchronous discussion. The\r\nresearcher also found that the SDL integration into online activity empowers\r\nstudents to be aware of the online learning conducted nowadays and involves\r\ncurrent issues in deciding their project topic. Also, they solve their problems\r\nregarding their task, encouraging students to present their ideas correctly and\r\ncreatively. Thus, results proved that SDL integration empowered students to\r\nexecute 21st-century skills.\r\nKeywords: Self-Directed Learning, Online learning activities, 21st-century skill\r\n(awareness of global issues, problem-solving, communicative skill)",
