"abstract": "This study explores the experiences and challenges faced by foreign students in\r\nadapting to the cultural context of learning in Indonesia. As the number of\r\ninternational students increases, understanding their adaptation process becomes\r\nessential to support their learning and well-being. The aim of the study is to examine\r\nhow foreign learners experience and respond to cultural challenges in Indonesian\r\nEnglish learning environments. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry, data were\r\ncollected from three foreign learners through reflective journals, a questionnaire,\r\nand semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis revealed that cultural adaptation\r\nis a complex process that deeply affects students’ emotional, social, academic, and\r\nlanguage learning experiences. Common challenges included homesickness,\r\nloneliness, classroom communication differences, and fear of speaking English.\r\nDespite these difficulties, students also showed personal and academic growth as\r\nthey gradually adapted. The study is guided by Berry’s Acculturation Model, Kim’s\r\nCross-Cultural Adaptation Theory, and MacIntyre’s Willingness to Communicate.\r\nThe findings offer practical recommendations to help schools create more\r\nsupportive learning environments that improve students’ emotional well-being,\r\nacademic success, and cultural adjustment.\r\nKeywords: Cultural Adaptation, Learning Experiences, Foreign Learners,\r\nIndonesia, Narrative Inquiry",
