Abstract

This research is aimed to find out whether there is significant effect in using Edmodo or not. The observation of the research showed that the students had problems in comprehending the text: finding main idea, topic, detail information and recognizing unfamiliar word. The researcher used quantitative approach and Pre-experimental method with one group pre-test post-test. The research was carried out at Pakuan University. The total population of the first semester is 63 students from three classes of English Education Study program at Pakuan University in the academic year of 2018/2019. As many as 21 students of 1A are taken as the sample. Moreover, lottery system is used to take the sample. This research was started from December 5th to December 23rd 2019. Reading comprehension text is given to measure their reading comprehension ability. The instrument of this research is multiple choice form. Aditionally, the data were analazyed by using t-test calculation. Thus, the result of t-test value is 4.09 meanwhile the degree of freedom (df) is 20, the t-table value at significant level 0.05 is 2.08. The result shows that the value of t-test is higher than t-table (4.09- 2.08). the calculation assumes that the null hypotesis (Ha) is rejected and the alternative hypotesis (Ha) is accepted. It is concluded that Edmodo affects students’ reading comprehension. Keywords: Edmodo, Reading Comprehension
