Abstract

This research entitled Students’ Errors in Writing Narrative Text based on Surface Strategy Taxonomy that is aimed to find the errors made by the students in writing Narrative Text as their assignment in the school. This research is using description method and qualitative approach that is describing the data of the research. The participants of this research are 18 students from 9 classes of 10th Grade of Senior High School, 2 students each class, and also involve 2 English teachers in SMA N 4 Bogor. There are 3 instruments that are used for this research such as student’s work, questionnaire for the students, and the questionnaire for the teachers. The result of this research is the type of errors that sometimes did by the students in writing Narrative Text based on Surface Strategy Taxonomy. The researcher find that there are 4 types of error such as misordering word, misformasion word, addition word, and omission word. The highest frequency of error that made by students is misformation word, the second of the high frequency of error is addition word, the next of the frequency of error is omission word, and the lowest frequency of error that made by students is misordering word.
