Abstract

ABSTRACT The paper entitled “Teachers‟ Strategies in Cultivating Students‟ Critical Thinking” is purposed to describe the stratetgies that are used to cultivate or develop students‟ critical thinking in classroom actvity. The research is conducted in MA Al Ghiffari, Bogor. The teacher who teaches at the school is chosen as the participant of the research by using purposive sampling. Qualitative approach and descriptive method are applied in conducting the research. Besides, the instrument of data collection of the reseach are classroom observation, interview, and documentation. Classroom observation was conducted in three meetings to figure out the strategies that were used to develop students‟ critical thinking. Besides, the interview was done to determine further information about the strategies. The lesson plan of classroom activity was also collected as the document of the research. In conducting the classroom activity, the teacher implmented Instructional Strategies. Promoting active and cooperative learning which required students‟ participation and stimulating students‟ thinking ability by using teacher questioning technique were always be the consideration. The implementation of those strategies is purposed to cultivate students‟ critical thinking. Keywords: Teaching Strategy, Critical Thinking
