Abstract

This study is in the form of a comparative research to see the difference in commitment to the organization between generation X (1965-1980) and generation Y (1981-2000) through the influence of empowerment and value on employees of 4 state-owned banks in South Jakarta with a sample of 200 employees. Statistical analysis is in the form of normality test, hemogenity test and linearity test. The hypothesis test uses the application of SPSS, t-test and F-test. Qualitative test on the variable of commitment to the organization uses the Delphi technique to confirm the quantitative test. The research results that there is no difference in commitment to the organization of generation X and Y, there is no difference in commitment to the organization of generation X and Y in the dimension of affective commitment, normative commitment, Continuence commitment, there is a significant influence of Empowerment on commitment to the organization in generation X and generation Y, there is a significant influence of value on commitment to the organization in generation X and generation Y, there is a significant influence of Empowerment and Value together on Commitment to the organization in generation X and generation Y, there is a difference in the correlation of the Empowerment dimension in generation X and generation Y. The results of the correlation analysis in Generation X showed that the Competence dimension of empowerment most affected commitment to organizations with a strong level of influence, while Generation Y correlated at medium and low levels with the dimension that had the highest correlation value was the Impact dimension. In the Value Variable, the dimension that most affects commitment to the organization is the share value dimension and is at a very strong level for generation X and generation Y. Based on the results of this research, the Company needs to develop a program to strengthen empowerment, especially through the dimension of Competence in generation X and increase empowerment by using all dimensions of empowerment (impact, self-determination, meaning, competence) comprehensively in generation Y as well as value strengthening programs in generation X and generation Y.
