Abstract

Listening has an essential thing in life, listening is one of the language skills that can be used for learning a language. English as foreign language needs more emphasizing to practice listening. In learn English need tools in daily practice to solve problem when learners felt some difficulties. Therefore, in the 21st century is a lot of application from mobile devices which students' can choose for practice in teaching-learning English. One of them is BBC Learning English, students around the world can practice and improve their vocabulary by listening to audio and read transcript in the app. This research aims to investigate the impact of BBC Learning English in listening comprehension to students' vocabulary mastery. The researcher chooses method one group pre-test and post-test design. This research is conducted in Pakuan University at English education study program in one class of the third semester. Based on the calculation of the data, the mean of the difference is 5.78and the total of deviation of difference is 3,621.96. Then, the total of the sample in this research was 14 students by using random sampling. Theresult shows that based on t-table, the degree of freedom 13 at the significant level of 0.05 is 2.16. Afterward, the value of the t-test is 1.29 from the comparison between the value of t-test and t-table. It can be concluded that the value of t-test is lower than t-table (1.29<2.16). So, the alternative hypothesis of this research (Ha) is rejected. BBC Learning English as media for teaching-learning did not impact significant area in vocabulary mastery for students'.
