Currently, jamu is the choice in solving the problem of minor illnesses among the community compared to synthetic chemical-based drugs. The current development of jamu needs to be watched out for, especially because there is the potential to harm the community, for example the presence of Chemical Drug (Bahan Kimia Obat/BKO) in jamu. One type of jamu circulating among the community today is anticough phlegm jamu with indications as mucolytic which has a similar effect with the chemical compound bromhexine HCl. This study aims to identify the presence of the compound bromhexine HCl in anti-cough phlegm in jamu by qualitative and quantitative methods. In qualitative analysis using KLT with stationary phase of KLT gel plate F254 and mobile phase, namely formic acid: ethyl acetate: acetone (10: 85: 5) by showing the Rf value of 0,5. Based on quantitative analysis with UV-Vis Spectrophotometric method bromhexine HCl was found with a level of 0.399%. Keywords: BKO; Bromhexine HCl; jamu
