Abstract

APPLICATION OF LEARNING MEDIA FOR COMPUTER NETWORK AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS USING MARKERLESS AR WITH SURFACE TRACKING Arie Qur’ania1 , Boldson H Situmorang2 , Maria Qibtia3 1,2,3Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Pakuan University, 16143, Indonesia Abstarct This research focused on the development of a markerless augmented reality (AR) learning tool, utilizing surface tracking technology, designed to enhance the teaching and learning of fundamental concepts in computer network and telecommunications engineering. The application was systematically developed following the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) methodology, and for evaluation, it was tested on 20 10th-grade vocational students specializing in Computer and Network Engineering during their first semester. Assessment results demonstrated a significant pedagogical impact, with student comprehension showing an 88.25% improvement when comparing pretest and posttest scores. User acceptance was notably high across various stakeholder groups: students expressed an 87.2% satisfaction level, educators provided a favorable assessment of 93.33%, and multimedia experts rated the tool at 84.00%. These findings collectively affirm the application's strong usability and educational value. Despite observed challenges, such as occasional AR tracking instability and a reliance on adequate lighting conditions, the developed learning tool was deemed effective for practical implementation and holds substantial potential for future enhancements, particularly through the integration of more sophisticated interactive features to further enrich the learning experience. Keywords: Markerless Augmented Reality; Surface Tracking; Computer Networking and Telecommunications; Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC); and Learning Media.
